Separation Agreement Certificates for Legal Aid Clients
If you are financially eligible, Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) may cover up to 10 hours with a family lawyer to prepare a separation agreement. Your former partner may also qualify if their income is under $50,000.
Services Available with a Legal Aid Certificate
If you have received a Legal Aid certificate for assistance with a separation agreement, we provide a structured service that aligns with the scope and limitations of your certificate.
What’s Included:
One 1-hour meeting to gather the necessary information for your separation agreement
During this meeting, all forms required for the separation agreement will be reviewed
No further communication will be exchanged beyond this meeting
One draft of the separation agreement (up to 10 pages)
The certificate is completed and our contract is terminated when the draft of the separation agreement is sent to the client, and the client agrees to receive the draft AS IS.
OR
One 1-hour meeting to gather the necessary information for your financial statement
During this meeting, all forms required for the financial statement will be reviewed
No further communication will be exchanged beyond this meeting
One draft of the financial statement (up to 10 pages)
The certificate is completed and our contract is terminated when the draft of the financial statement is sent to the client, and the client agrees to receive the draft AS IS.
We are able to provide the draft within 1 – 4 weeks of the consultation, depending on time constraints and complexity of the case. You will also be provided with an itemized invoice at the end of the contract.
*We are not able to provide equalization calculations for legal aid clients due to time constraints.
